Special Projects

The Corcoran Chamber of Commerce works on several special projects throughout the year
and partners with other non-profit organizations to have the largest impact on the community.

American Flag
​Replacement Project

​Partnering with the Corcoran Community Foundation, residents of Corcoran, Alpaugh and Waukena are invited to bring in their torn and tattered American flag and we will replace it free of charge! Here is what you need to do:
1. Stop by the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce office (located at 1040 Whitley Avenue) with your old flag.
2. Provide your name, phone number and address.
3.We will give you a new flag to replace your old one. All flags that are turned in will be retired appropriately at an official Flag Retirement Ceremony. Flag owners will be contacted for the ceremony.

​Corcoran Cash Project

​The Corcoran Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to shop local by offering Corcoran Cash to purchase for special events, gift giving, employee appreciation...you name it, you can use it for any occasion!
Corcoran Cash comes in $5 denominations and is valid at participating merchants. Spend it like regular cash! As of December 2021, over $115,000 has been spent locally through the Corcoran Cash Project.

​Community and Schools Together Student Recognition Project

​A joint effort with The Corcoran Journal, Community and Schools Together (CAST), and the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce, we recognize students for outstanding service to the community, and individual academic, organization or sports accomplishments. Each student is featured in The Corcoran Journal newspaper, and receives a hand-written letter of recognition on special cards designed by artist Jim Hunt (artist for Mad Magazine, Hershey's, Major League Baseball, NASCAR and more!), as well as $10 Corcoran Cash to be spent at local merchants.

​Face Mask & Hand Sanitizer Project

The City of Corcoran, Corcoran District Hospital and the Corcoran Chamber partnered to provide 1,000 cloth face masks and 2,000 keychain hand sanitizers with custom #CITYOFCORCORAN artwork to the community to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

Downtown Music
​Project

With grants from the Corcoran 50-50 Club, Corcoran Rotary and the Corcoran Community Foundation, downtown strollers are  treated to music playing throughout the city. The music is scheduled to play from 6 am-10pm every day of the week. For weddings in the park, where music is not desired, the Chamber can omit the music from that area upon request. Christmas at the Park

Partnering with the Corcoran Christmas Tree Committee, Smithfield Farms, the Corcoran Police Department and the Corcoran Chief of Police, Christmas at the Park is a special evening where attendees can enjoy complimentary hot dogs and hot chocolate with marshmallows while enjoying Christmas Tree Park. The evening features a lighted trailer to take carolers downtown spreading the holiday cheer.

Memorial Wall Project

Beginning winter of 2019, the Corcoran Community Foundation Memorial Wall serves as a way to honor deceased members of the Corcoran Community who have made great contributions to the City of Corcoran. Plaques will be awarded annually, with an unveiling reception for families and friends of the honorees. Applications may be picked up at the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce office located at 1040 Whitley Avenue.

Pocket Size
​First Aid Kit Project

Partnering with the Corcoran District Hospital, these pocket size first aid kits will be passed out at all Farmers' & Artisans' Markets, Health Fairs and Cotton Festival. The kit includes an antiseptic towelette, cleansing towelette, bandaids and healthy guidelines when in an emergency situation, including: breathing problems, bleeding wounds, burns, poisoning, and insect & animal bites.

Downtown Corcoran Recovery Project

In partnership with the City of Corcoran, the Downtown Recovery Program will provide up to $265,000 in grant funding to local businesses and properties along the Downtown Corcoran and extended commercial corridor area through the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 (July 1, 2022 thru June 30, 2023). Grant funding to local business properties is intended to cover expenses related to enhancing building exteriors, signs and other pedestrian amenities to increase the visual aesthetic appeal and customer draw to Downtown Corcoran and community events. For a property owner or business operator to receive funding, a complete application must be submitted to the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce and meet project eligibility criteria. Healthy Skin
​Sunscreen Project

With temperatures soaring over 115 at times in the Central Valley, it is so important to protect yourself from the elements. The Corcoran Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Corcoran District Hospital to pass out 4,000 pocket size sun screens at chamber events. You can also stop by the Corcoran Chamber of Commerce office (located at 1040 Whitley Avenue) to pick up your complimentary sun screen.


​Business, Church and Non-Profit Organizations Free Sanitizer and Disinfectant for Covid-19 Project

Partnering with the Corcoran District Hospital, every business, church and non-profit organization is offered a complimentary sprayer with Thymol based disinfectant to help stop the spread of Covid-19. As of June 15, 2021, over 110 sprayers, 500 gallons of disinfectant and 240 gallons of hand sanitizer have been distributed throughout our community.

​Hero Project

Sponsored by the Corcoran Community Foundation, the Military Banner program offers a complimentary banner to all Corcoran Veterans. Met with such great response, we currently have banners honoring 279 of our local veterans. Quarterly full page advertisements in The Corcoran Journal let the community know when their family and friend's banners will be on display. Corcoran's 100th Christmas Tree Celebration Project

The Corcoran Chamber of Commerce took the lead on celebrating our 100th Christmas Tree in Corcoran (2019). The event was truly a community effort raising over $85,000 in sponsorships to provide the residents with a 3-day event centered around our 100th Tree!
Whitley and Chittenden Avenues were adorned with an ice skating rink, snow hill for children to sled, a live nativity scene, craft and food vendors, chestnuts roasting over an open fire, appearances from several Disney characters, children's store, live music performed by local artists in period costumes from the 1900s, free crafts & cookie decorating booths, complimentary pancake breakfast hosted by Corcoran Kiwanis, a custom-made gingerbread house, live reindeer and photo ops galore! A HUGE thank you to all of our sponsors who made this such an awesome & amazing experience for our community!

​Walking Tour

The Chamber has played an integral role laying the foundation for the Corcoran Museum Committee Walking Tour. The mission of the tour is to provide the public with a visual and personal experience of the past that reflects the historical wealth and cultural diversity of our community by encouraging public visitation to merchants.

Trunk or Treat

Picture
A joint effort with the Kiwanis Club, downtown Corcoran merchants, non-profits and churches, Trunk or Treat takes place on Whitley Avenue and spans 5 blocks. Enjoy the creative trunks on display, while your children safely collect candy from the entries.
